AWESOME NEWS! I am absolutely stoked because The Gaslight Anthem have announced their new album release date, dropped a new single, AND will be touring in September. Their fifth album, Get Hurt, is scheduled to be released August 19th from Island Records. I absolutely love this band not only because they are from my home-state, New Jersey, but also because they are a shining light of hope that good ol' rock n' roll isn't dead. Gaslight's rock/punk sound has been compared to Bruce Springsteen, Hot Water Music, Social Distortion, and Pearl Jam. There's something classic about this band. The lead singer, Brian Fallon, delivers vocals that fit right in with the punkish vocals of the likes of Rise Against alongside catchy guitar riffs that make you want to just nod your head and jam.
Their new single "Rollin' and Tumblin'" was released this week and has got me going back and listening to all of their material in preparation for the LP and (hopefully) seeing them live sometime in the near future. My favorites include "Biloxi Parish," "Handwritten," and "Here Comes My Man." My Jersey boys are on tour with Against Me! and Jimmy Eat World starting this September.
If you haven't heard of this group yet, you are WAY behind. For my fellow fans, new music is only 55 days away!
